Rossie Lee Harris

Rossie Lee Harris was a judge on the Rhode Island Family Court. He was sworn into office by Gov. Gina Raimondo (D) on June 23, 2016, to fill the vacancy left by the October 2015 resignation of Kathleen A. Voccola.[1] Harris retired on August 31, 2020.[2]
Harris was a magistrate for the court from 2013 to his appointment as judge in 2016. He was nominated to the position by Family Court Chief Judge Haiganush R. Bedrosian on June 21, 2013, and the Rhode Island State Senate approved his nomination on June 27, 2013. Harris was the first African-American to serve as a family court magistrate in Rhode Island.[3][4]
Biography
Harris served as counsel for the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth and Families prior to his appointment to the court.[4]
