Roy Bale Dalton, Jr.
Roy Bale Dalton, Jr. is a federal judge on senior status with the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida. He joined the court in 2011 after being nominated by President Barack Obama. He assumed senior status on July 9, 2022.[1]
Prior to serving as a federal judge, Dalton was a partner in the law firm of Dalton & Carpenter, PA.[2]

Dalton received a B.A. from University of Florida in 1974 and a J.D. degree from University of Florida, Law in 1976.[3][2]

On November 17, 2010, President President Obama nominated Dalton to the seat on the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida vacated by Henry Adams.[3] President Obama had this to say about the nominations made on November 17, 2010: "I am pleased to nominate these distinguished individuals to serve on the United States District Court bench.I am confident they will serve the American people with integrity and a steadfast commitment to justice."[4]
Dalton's nomination was returned to the President at the end of the 111th Congress. President Obama resubmitted the nomination on January 5, 2011. Dalton received a rating of "Substantial Majority Well Qualified, Minority Qualified" from the American Bar Association. Dalton's nomination was confirmed by the Senate on May 2, 2011 by a voice vote.[6] He assumed senior status on July 9, 2022.[1]
