Roy Elicker is the former Oregon Director of Fish and Wildlife. He was first appointed to the position on August 3, 2007, by the State Fish and Wildlife Commission. Elicker resigned from office on October 10, 2014, to assume a position with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.[1] The department chose former deputy director Curt Melcher as interim director in September 2014, as director in February 2015.[2]

Elicker began his career with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife in 1993 as a watershed health program coordinator. He subsequently served as fish screening program manager, fish division deputy administrator, legislative coordinator, and deputy director for fish and wildlife programs.[3]

Elicker served as Oregon Director of Fish and Wildlife from 2007 to 2014. Prior to his appointment, he served as acting director on two separate occasions.[3]

Elicker was appointed as Oregon Director of Fish and Wildlife by the State Fish and Wildlife Commission on August 3, 2007. Commission Chair Marla Rae stated, “Roy earned this appointment. He earned it by his commitment, passion and loyalty to the department, its mission and its employees.”[4]
