Ruben V. Martinez was a candidate for the Trustee Area 7 seat on the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education in California. Martinez ran against one fellow candidate in the general election on November 4, 2014.[1] Ruben V. Martinez lost the general election on November 4, 2014.
Though he was still on the ballot, Martinez stopped campaigning for the Trustee Area 7 seat on the Fresno Unified Board of Education in October 2014 due to health issues.[2]
Biography
Martinez is from Fresno, California and has two children. He works as a substitute food service employee.[2]

Four seats on the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. In the Trustee Area 1 race, incumbent Cal Johnson faced three challengers, Debbie J. Darden, Christiansen L. Flemming and Charles Watkins "Muhammad", and won his bid for re-election. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Valerie Florentino Davis ran against one challenger, Esmeralda Diaz. Davis also won her bid for re-election. In Trustee Area 4, incumbent Christopher de la Cerda ran unopposed and won re-election by default. No incumbents filed to run for the Trustee Area 7 seat, leaving the race to candidates Brooke Ashjian and Ruben V. Martinez. Ashjian defeated Martinez to win a seat on the board.
