Ruben Vogt is a former county judge for the El Paso County Commissioners Court in Texas. He was appointed by the commissioners court on October 2, 2017, to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of County Judge Veronica Escobar. Vogt said he would not seek election to the seat when the term expired in 2018.[1]

Vogt earned bachelor's degrees in political science and English/American literature and a master's degree in intelligence and national security studies from the University of Texas at El Paso.[1][2]

Prior to his appointment to the commissioners court, Vogt was the chief of staff for his predecessor, Escobar. His experience also includes service as the vice president of the LGBTQ rights advocacy group Equality Texas and work as an intern for the U.S. State Department and a legislative analyst for then-state Sen. Eliot Shapleigh (D).[1][2]
