Campaign themes

2016

Resendez's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Make Education a Priority Again: Today, more than ever, the job market requires workers who are educated, skilled and ready to take on the challenges ahead. Our students deserve a quality education to prepare them for the workforce, regardless of where they live. That means restoring the public education budget cuts so we can reduce class sizes, equip classrooms with state-of-the-art technology, and fight to protect and keep our best teachers.

Grow New Businesses & Jobs Locally: Small, local businesses are the backbone of our economy, and it is their economic strength that will determine whether our community prospers or lags behind. It’s time for us to take the lead on creating new jobs by investing in our small businesses and creating real opportunities for growth.

Protect Children, Seniors & Veterans: The health and well-being of our children should not be used as a political pawn in partisan politics. If Texas has access to federal funds that will help provide additional healthcare for our children we should be utilizing it. Additionally, our seniors and veterans need to have the security and peace of mind that they will receive the services needed. Let’s keep the promise of a good quality of life.

Provide Equal Opportunity for Everyone: It’s simple. Women deserve equal pay for equal work. As our state grows so will economic opportunities. These should be available to all, no matter their gender, age, or sexual orientation. It’s time for Texas to embrace equality so that we all can prosper.[1]
