The signature filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was March 7, 2014. Incumbent Jose Medina (D) and Rudy Aranda (R) defeated D. Shelly Yarbrough (D) in the blanket primary. Medina defeated Aranda in the general election.[2][3][4]
