Rufus Johnson (New Jersey)
Rufus Johnson (Democratic Party) was an at-large member of the Essex County Board of County Commissioners in New Jersey. He assumed office on January 1, 2021. He left office on January 1, 2024.
Johnson (Democratic Party) ran for re-election for an at-large seat of the Essex County Board of Chosen Freeholders in New Jersey. He won in the general election on November 3, 2020.
Biography
Johnson attended Essex County College and Wilberforce University.[1]
Johnson's professional experience includes work as an aide to Newark Councilman Joe McCallum, the chief of staff to state Sen. Ronald Rice (D), and an aide to Rice when he was serving on the Newark Municipal Council. He has also served as the president of the Newark West Ward Young Democrats, a member of the board of Habitat for Humanity, and the cofounder and coach of the Newark Optimist Club Little League and the Newark Pop Warner Football League.[1]
