Russ Bellant
Russ Bellant was a nonpartisan candidate for District 3 representative on the Detroit City Council in Michigan. Bellant was defeated in the general election on November 7, 2017.
Biography
Belland served in the U.S Army. His professional experience includes working at the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department, as chief of staff for State Representative Wendell Byrd (D), treasurer for the 9th Police Precinct Community Relations Council, president of the Helco Block Club, appointed member of the Detroit Library Commission, and co-founder of the Save Lipke Recreation Center Committee.[1]

The city of Detroit, Michigan, held elections for mayor, city council, city clerk, and the Detroit Board of Police Commisisoners on November 7, 2017. A primary election was held on August 8, 2017. The filing deadline for candidates wishing to run in this election was April 25, 2017.[2]
Incumbent Scott Benson defeated Russ Bellant in the general election for District 3 on the Detroit City Council.
