Primary: He was successful in the Republican primary on March 4, 2014, receiving 50.1 percent of the vote. He competed against Dan Linebaugh and Chad Bridges.
General: He defeated incumbent Jim Sharp in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 57.1 percent of the vote. [2][3][4]

Lloyd ran for election to the 127th District Court and was defeated by incumbent R.K. Sandill.Cite error: Invalid <ref> tag; name cannot be a simple integer. Use a descriptive title Lloyd had defeated fellow Republican Sonya Aston in the primary election.[7]
