Russell Redding is the Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture. Redding assumed office in 2015. Redding's current term ends on January 19, 2027.

Redding was nominated by Governor Tom Wolf (D) on January 20, 2015, and confirmed by the state senate in May 2015.[1][2] He was reappointed by Governor-elect Josh Shapiro (D) on January 10, 2023.[3]

Biography

Redding was raised on a dairy farm in Pennsylvania. He worked in Washington D.C. as the agricultural policy advisor to former U.S. Senator Harris Wofford as well as served for 16 years at the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture. Redding acted as secretary of the department from 2009-2011, when he left to become Delaware Valley College’s dean of agriculture and environmental sciences.

He served as chair of the USDA Advisory Committee on Biotechnology and 21st Century Agriculture.[4]
