Recall proponent arguments

Recall organizer Mari Paul argued that Schneider should be recalled due to a conflict of interest. Schneider's construction business was contracted for city projects.[1]

Official's response

Schneider dismissed the suggestion that he was involved in a conflict of interest. "I'm not ashamed to do business with the City of Temple. The charter says you can do business with the city, and I intend to keep doing that. I have nothing to hide," he said.[1]

The recall effort against Schneider arose from an earlier, failed attempt by Mari Paul to oust the entire city council. She needed to collect more than 3,100 signatures from registered voters in Schneider's district in order to trigger a recall election against him.[1]
