Rusty York
Rusty York was a 2015 Democratic candidate for District 4 of the Fort Wayne City Council in Indiana. Rusty York lost the general election on November 3, 2015.
Biography
York received a bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Indiana University. He also graduated from the FBI National Academy and the Law Enforcement Executive Development Seminar. He joined the Fort Wayne Police Department in 1975 as a patrol officer, and retired in 1997 as a detective captain. He then held the position of director of transportation with Fort Wayne Community Schools before returning to the police department to serve as police chief from 2000 to 2014. He became the Fort Wayne Director of Public Safety in January 2014.[1]
Elections
2015
The city of Fort Wayne, Indiana, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. A primary election took place on May 5, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was February 6, 2015. All nine city council seats were up for election.[2]
In Republican primary election for District 4, Jason Arp defeated Ryan Keuneke and Matthew Sorg. In the Democratic primary, Rusty York ran unopposed. Arp defeated York in the general election. Incumbent Mitch Harper (R) ran for mayor.[3][4]
