My name is Ruth Caves and I am running for the 57th District Assembly seat. I am a Christian, wife, mother of three, grandmother of nine, retired teacher and volunteer. When I came to Wild Rose to teach, I met and married Larry Caves, a lifetime resident of Wild Rose. Our faith, family and community are our focus in life. I worked in the Wild Rose School District in various roles: librarian, English-Language Arts teacher, reading specialist, and union member and officer. Larry and his brother Jim managed their family business, Ross Caves and Son Trucking. I have been active in the community, especially St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kiwanis, Waushara Gardeners, and Theda-Care Wild Rose Volunteers. Since I retired, I have been active with the Waushara County Democrats. As the current chair, I appreciate the need for Democrats to work together to support progressive values in the 2024 election. Women’s healthcare, Social Security, healthcare for all, public schools, the environment – all and more are on the ballot this year. But, overriding even these crucial concerns is the threat to our democracy posed by the MAGA Republicans. The time is now for all of us to do everything we can to motivate others to think about the true issues (and the truth!) and Get Out the Vote for the Biden-Harris ticket. Our state and national legislatures need to stop wasting time with partisan efforts and get to work for the good of the people.
Women's healthcare, public education and environmental conservation
I worked in the Wild Rose School District my entire career as a language arts teacher and reading specialist.
I've received an endorsement from the Women's Caucus of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin, and I've received the Gun Sense Candidate designation from Moms Demand Action.
