Re-elect Ryan Bent to the NOCCCD Board of Trustees!
Ryan has a proven track record of service within our community, was previously named “Community College Trustee of the Year,” and was recognized by his City Council for being an influential community member “whose leadership has played a key role in the city’s history.” He is a past NOCCCD Board President, an Excellence in Trusteeship Program Graduate (Community College League of California), City Commissioner, UC Irvine Program Advisory Board Member, Community Emergency Response Team Member, and has served as a local School Site Council Chairman, PTA Legislative Advocacy Chairman, General Plan Advisory Committee Vice Chairman, and University MBA Program Advisory Council Member.
The NOCCCD oversees the campuses of Fullerton College, Cypress College, and North Orange Continuing Education. As a dedicated husband, father, business professional, lifelong learner, community volunteer, and public servant, Ryan will proudly continue to represent the residents of Yorba Linda, Brea, Placentia, Anaheim, Fullerton, La Habra, and La Habra Heights.- Over the last 8 years, I have worked to increased student success by encouraging campus environments that keep politics out of education to ensure that all students feel welcome on campus. During that time, I have fought against several extremist policies that were politically divisive and I challenged my Board and district by telling them, "If you are so confident the community would support this, put it on a ballot and see if they vote for it." I continuously remind them that we represent our community, and with every vote I take, I think about what the people of Yorba Linda, Brea, Placentia, Anaheim, Fullerton, La Habra, and La Habra Heights want and how they would vote on a given issue.
- Campus safety has become an important issue across the country but certainly on our campuses as well. Our district is currently looking at many options to ensure our campuses are secure and our students faculty, and staff remain safe at all times. Our campus safety officers are the front lines for us, and we need to make sure they have all the resources and tools they need to defend themselves and others in moments of crises. We need to ensure our communications and security cameras are up to date and that we are able to communicate efficiently with our respective police department partners. I have submitted multiple areas to investigate so we can determine the best tools to implement to maximize the effectiveness of our safety teams.
- One of my priorities has been for the NOCCCD to be a destination district, where students of Fullerton College, Cypress College, & NOCE are proud to attend, and faculty & staff are proud to teach or support our students. Many actions have been taken to attract students and to inform them of the incredible pathways our community colleges offer for their educational journeys. We have honors programs that attract 4.0+ GPA high school graduates, we attract those who struggled in high school, and everyone in between. I'm a proud Fullerton College success story, who continuously improved as a student, and that is the story of many of our students, who can go anywhere and be anything they want from our colleges and tech programs.

I follow, and hold in the highest regard, the instruction manuals known as the U.S. Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution. I am focused on preserving our Republic for all time, ensuring that the power stays in the hands of the people, encouraging local governments to do their jobs by acting as a protective shield from the levels above, and I work to help people understand that election days are important but in our system of government, participation is equally as important the other 364 days per year.
