Opposition
Two of the five seats on the Pasco Board of Directors were up for at-large general election on November 3, 2015. Positions 1 and 2 were on the ballot.
Position 1 incumbent Scott Lehrman and Position 2 incumbent Ryan Brault ran for re-election. Brault was defeated by challenger Aaron Richardson in the general election. Franklin County, "Ryan Brault," June 3, 2015 |
“ | I am grateful for the opportunity I have had to serve on the Pasco School Board the past 4 years. My wife and I grew up in the Tri-Cities and after attending college, we returned to make Pasco our home.
I believe in the power of education as a way to change lives and strengthen our community. Even before serving on the board and having our three-year-old son, I was actively involved in the Pasco School District. While serving on the board, we have had many accomplishments, including opening three new schools, introducing STEM offerings across the district and increasing graduation rates. I have spent much time in Olympia advocating for our district, staff and students. I am passionate about the success of our students. There are still challenges ahead and our work is not done. However, with challenges come opportunities. We have a long history of and commitment to family and community partnerships and it will take all of us working together to seize these opportunities. I would consider it a privilege to continue my service to our community in this capacity and I ask for your vote in this election.[5] |

Brault provided the following statement on his campaign website:
“ | My desire is that every student in the Pasco School District is empowered to obtain an education that builds on their individual strengths and is relevant to our world today.
After growing up in Tri-Cities and then earning my B.A. in Business Administration at Seattle Pacific University, my wife and I returned to make Pasco our home and to open an office in Pasco as a Financial Advisor with Edward Jones. Over the last several years I have been actively engaged with the Pasco School District and our community, volunteering in various capacities. I am Past-President of the Pasco Chamber, a Leadership Tri-Cities graduate, and was honored to receive the Community Leadership Award from SEWASA (South Eastern Washington Association of School Administrators) and the Pasco Pride Award from the District. Our school district faces complex challenges, particularly regarding growth and the issues with space this has created. It has become clear to me that tackling these issues will require continued community partnerships and innovation. The opportunity to serve on the Pasco School Board is a commitment I take very seriously and would consider it a privilege.[5] |
