|- Housing has obviously risen above a price that is feasable for most people. With a median income of $47,000, the cost of living is turning into a squeeze for our citizens regardless of renting or owning their home. Our city needs better protections for the people who live here to continue being able to keep living here.
- Transportation is difficult for anyone who does not have the luxury of using a car for all transportation. Major intersections don't have crosswalks, sidewalks don't span the roadside to provide safe walking conditions, and our bike lanes either don't exist or are outrageously dangerous. A city as populous as Indianapolis needs to have a more robust infrastructure for its citizens to traverse.
- Public safety in our current drug and housing crisis deserves more attention. There is an increase in situations that require intervention but not every one of these require an armed officer. Indianapolis needs to start treating drug addiction as an illness and not a criminal offense. Having social workers attached to IMPD as in Alexandria, KY or Eugene, OR would be a major boon to public safety efforts.
