Ryan McLaughlin is president of Mac Strategies Group, a firm specializing in public affairs, public relations and crisis communications.[1] McLaughlin founded the firm in 2008. McLaughlin was campaign manager and communications director for U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam's (R) 2006 campaign against Tammy Duckworth (D) in Illinois' 6th Congressional District. McLaughin served in Republican legislative staff positions in both the United States House of Representatives and the Illinois State Senate.[2]

Career

McLaughlin worked as a staff member for the Republican Party of Illinois from 1995 to 1997. From 1997 to 2000, McLaughlin was a legislative assistant and field director for then-U.S. Rep. Thomas Ewing (R), who represented Illinois' 15th Congressional District. McLaughlin was the statewide field director and coalitions director for Jim Ryan's 2002 campaign for Governor of Illinois. McLaughlin served on the executive committee staff of the Republican caucus of the Illinois State Senate in 2002.

From 2003 to 2005, McLaughlin was legislative director for then-U.S. Rep. Gil Gutkneckt (R), the former representative for Minnesota's 1st Congressional District.[2] From 2004 to 2006, McLaughlin was campaign manager and communications director for U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam's (R) 2006 campaign against Tammy Duckworth (D) in Illinois' 6th Congressional District.[3] Roskam defeated Duckworth with 51.4% of the vote in the general election.[4] From 2007 to 2008, McLaughlin was vice-president of Zapwater Communcations, a public relations firm with offices in Chicago, Illinois and Los Angeles, California.[5]

In April 2008, McLaughlin founded Mac Strategies Group, a firm specializing in public affairs, public relations and crisis communications. McLaughlin is the President of Mac Strategies Group.[1] McLaughlin was named one of the top influencers in Illinois by Campaigns & Elections Magazine.[6]
