Ryan Palmer is a former commissioner of the West Virginia Public Service Commission. He was appointed in 2010 to a term that was originally scheduled to end on June 15, 2015. Palmer resigned from the commission in September 2014 to take a position with the Federal Communications Commission.[1][2]

Biography

Palmer was born in Morgantown and raised in St. Albans. He graduated from West Virginia University with a B.A. in English and later earned his J.D. from the West Virginia University College of Law. After law school, Palmer served as a clerk for the late W. Craig Broadwater, who at the time was a federal judge on the United States District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia. Palmer went on to work as an attorney/advisor to Commissioner Charlotte Lane of the U.S. International Trade Commission and deputy general counsel to West Virginia Governor Joe Manchin.[1]

As a commissioner, Palmer was a member of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and sat on the organization's telecommunications and international relations committees.
