Campaign themes
2014
On his campaign website, Sabot highlighted the following issues:[2]
'Small business
- Excerpt: "DC needs to be "more open for business" than its counterparts in Maryland and Northern Virginia. This can be realized by removing harsh regulations which discourage small business and startups in the city. DC's population makes it a fertile ground for these businesses, but DC's regulations do not."
Education
- Excerpt: "The best way to allow children to achieve their highest academic potentials is through school choice, and DC is on the right track to this. Students and their parents should have the highest degree of school choice possible and data has shown that this approach has been wildly effective in DC."
Transportation
- Excerpt: "DC's transportation system is broken. WMATA and DC's taxi cabs have shown to be inefficient and unable to keep up with DC's evolving needs. Start ups such as Uber, myTaxi, Lyft, and Sidecar should be allowed to operate freely and other companies which can compete with WMATA should also be allowed to exist sans regulation."
Marijuana
- Excerpt: "Marijuana should be treated as alcohol in DC; limited yet available to responsible users. Marijuana has been proven to be safer than alcohol and its legalization would stop racist drug arrests and get rid of the crime associated with the substance's black market."
