Ryan Tenney is a judge of the Utah Court of Appeals. He assumed office on August 18, 2021. His current term ends on January 5, 2031.
Tenney ran for re-election for judge of the Utah Court of Appeals. He won in the retention election on November 5, 2024.
Tenney was appointed to the court of appeals by Gov. Spencer Cox (R) on June 23, 2021. Tenney was confirmed by the Utah State Senate on August 18, 2021.[1][2]

Education
Tenney received a J.D. from J. Reuben Clark Law School and a B.A. from the University of Utah.[1]
Career
At the time he was appointed to the court of appeals, Tenney served an assistant appellate attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office. Before that, he served as an assistant attorney in Utah’s Attorney General’s Office and as a civil litigation associate at Howard, Lewis & Peterson in Provo. He began working as an adjunct professor at the J. Reuben Clark Law School at Brigham Young University in 2008.[1]
