Ryan I. Wells is a judge of the Superior Court of Fresno County in California. Wells assumed office in 2021. Wells' current term ends on January 8, 2029.

Wells won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Fresno County in California outright in the primary on June 7, 2022, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) appointed Wells to the court on March 25, 2021.[1]

Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Gov. Newsom's office announcing Wells' appointment on March 25, 2021, identified him as a Democrat.[1]

Biography

Wells received his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. In 2008, he served as a Law Clerk at the Alameda County District Attorney’s Office. From 2009 to 2010, he was a Legal Editor at Lexis Nexis, and from 2010 to 2012, he served as a Deputy District Attorney at the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. From 2012 until his 2021 appointment, Wells served as a Senior Deputy District Attorney at the Fresno County District Attorney’s Office.[1]
