Columbia, South Carolina:

South Carolina's Democratic Party recently spent $18,600 to run an ad in Charlotte, North Carolina, mocking Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney. The ad, which runs about 30 seconds, is titled "Down Here," and includes footage from Romney in 2012 talking about his support for Massachusetts' "tough gun laws." The ad also references Romney signing into law an assault weapons ban while governor of Massachusetts. At the end, the narrator says, "Yep. Mitt kept his word. He supports gun control." Unfortunately for the Democratic Party, the ad contains a typo and briefly misspells "Romney" as "Romeny" S.C. Democratic Party Chair Dick Harpootlian, however, said the typo will be fixed before the ad goes on air.

Harpootlian, who also personally raised the funds to run the ad, said, "This guy is getting a free pass on the fact that he was pro gun control, pro choice and pro mandate, you know, up until about 18 months ago. And now he’s, you know, pro gun, pro life, and anti mandate. With all the money he’s got you would think he would be able to afford the medication to keep these kind of wild mood swings under control.”[1]
