Four of the seven seats on the Corpus Christi Independent School District school board were up for general election on November 8, 2016. One seat was elected by district and three seats were elected at large. District 2 incumbent Tony Elizondo filed for re-election and won without opposition. Ten candidates filed in the race for the three at-large seats. Incumbent Janie Bell and candidates A. Totsy Armadillo, S. Jaime Arredondo, Stuart Bell, Jose Cavazos Jr., James Gold, Robert Hinojosa, Hector Salinas, John Stearns, and Alice Upshaw-Hawkins faced off in the election. Janie Bell, Stuart Bell, and Upshaw-Hawkins won in the general election.[1]
