Sal Fernandez is a former at-large member of the New Rochelle Board of Education in New York. He served on the school board from 2014 to 2019. Fernandez did not seek re-election in 2019.[1]

Fernandez earned a combined B.A. and M.S. from Hunter College before receiving a degree in education administration from the City College of New York and his Ed.D. in education administration and supervision from St. John's University. He was employed as a school principal for the New York City Department of Education.[2]

My vision is to propose to the board that we develop a five (5) year strategic plan which addresses the educational needs of our diverse learners and to carefully oversee fiscal expenditures. Also, to provide a road map for our schools so that the parents and district staff will know what is expected at every grade level made available in both English and Spanish.[5]
