Guilbo highlighted why she ran for school board on her campaign website:

WHY AM I RUNNING FOR SCHOOL BOARD OF VALLEY VIEW SCHOOL DISTRICT 365U?

I have been a member of the Valley View School District for 42 years. I have taught at Romeoville High School for 20 years, coached at RHS for 17 years, performed administrative duties at RHS for 11 years. As a retired educator, I would love to continue giving back to the community by being a member of the VVSD Board of Education.

I love and I am proud of where I live and I want this community to be the best it can be. A huge part of being the best community lies within our youth and the education they receive. That education should include being responsible respectful citizens who have a love of learning and become lifelong learners. In order for students to be as successful as possible, it is crucial that the classroom teachers receive as much support as possible.

As a tax payer in the Valley View School District, I am concerned about how our tax dollars are being spent. I would like to see the tax dollars we pay to the schools spent as efficiently as possible in addition to helping all students be as successful as possible.

Not only have I gone through our school district my entire first 12 years of school but my husband, children and other relatives also have gone through our school system. Living in the community, being a student and parent in VVSD, teaching, coaching and performing administrative duties all have given me an opportunity to develop a deep insight into the workings and policies inside and outside of our schools. This experience will help in dealing with the challenges facing our school district.
