Campaign themes
2014
Havice's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]
- Excerpt: "Much needs to be done to restore our golden state to its previous prominence in education, business and industry. Californians pay some of the highest taxes in the nation and Californians should have the highest quality of service in payment for the hard earned dollars we contribute to the economy. Our children, our families and our neighborhoods must be kept safe by an adequate number of reliable well-trained public safety professionals including law enforcement and firefighters, and we must be sure that our money is directed to provide the possible equipment they need to keep us safe and come to our aid. Our children and families must always be confident that our safety is considered of the utmost importance – as a number one priority. Our roads and highways need to be repaired and maintained. Driving to and from work, taking our children to school, and going to Grandma’s across town should not beat up our cars and cause expensive repairs because of roads full of cracks, potholes and giant tree root bumps. Our children need schools where excellence is no longer an exception but the rule, and their safety is ensured. It is a well-known fact that children learn more readily when they feel safe and cared for. Our schools need to provide clear pathways and readiness to colleges and universities. Those colleges and universities should provide the capacity to accept all who are ready, willing and able to study to prepare for the realization of their dreams through good paying jobs and careers. The choice of professional or vocational careers must be available to meet the present and future job market. Our colleges and universities are there to educate our children and adults (including veterans) for jobs to support themselves and their families."
