Illinois: Effective March 8, 2011, the Illinois First District Appellate Court will have a new judge. Marcus R. Salone, previously an associate judge in Cook County, has been appointed to succeed Sheila O'Brien. Salone will serve for less than two years before having to run for election to his new seat.[1]

Judge O'Brien retires from the court after serving as a judge for over 25 years. Since 1994, she was a member of the First District Appellate Court. For nine years before that, she was an associate judge.[2]
