Sam Haddon

Sam Haddon is an Article III federal judge serving on senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Montana. He joined the court in 2001 after being nominated by President George W. Bush.[1] On December 31, 2012, Sam Haddon assumed senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Montana after serving on the court for 11 years.[2]
Early life and education
Haddon was a graduate of Rice University with his bachelor's degree in 1959 and later graduated from the University of Montana, School of Law with his J.D. in 1965.[1]
Professional career
Haddon began his career on the ground of law enforcement as a Immigration Patrol Inspector for the United States Border Patrol from 1959 to 1961 and also served as a Agent Federal Bureau of Narcotics from 1961 to 1962 before taking a three year hiatus to attend law school. After graduating from law school, Haddon moved to Montana to be a private practice attorney from 1966 to 2001. Haddon also served as a part-time adjunct instructor at the University of Montana School of Law since 2001.[1]
Judicial career
District of Montana
On the recommendation of U.S. Senator Conrad Burns, Haddon was nominated by President George W. Bush on May 17, 2001 to a seat vacated by Charles Lovell as Lovell assumed senior status. Haddon was confirmed by the Senate on July 20, 2001 on a unopposed 95-0-5 vote and received commission on July 25, 2001.[3] On December 31, 2012 Sam Haddon assumed senior status for the United States District Court for the District of Montana after serving on the court for 11 years.[4]
