|- Housing that works for everyone –– Sam believes everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home. He supports affordable, community-centered housing that allows people to stay rooted in Burien—including older adults, working families, and those at risk of displacement. Sam backs pro-density zoning that will increase the number of housing units in Burien, empowering people of all economic backgrounds to thrive.
- Safe streets –– Sam is committed to a city that is safer for pedestrians and bicyclists. He and his wife walk their son to daycare every single day on streets without sidewalks, often with cars driving by at above the speed limit. Sam supports more sidewalks, traffic calming measures, increased bike lanes, and other policies to make our city safer for those out and about in our wonderful city. This has the added benefit of fighting climate change, another key priority of Sam’s.
- Government transparency & accountability –– Sam believes the City of Burien has an obligation to be responsive, transparent, and accountable to all its residents. All policies and official decisions should be made out in the open so that the public can see how their government works. An open government is a good government. It’s also the law.
