2012
Salamey was elected to the 19th District Court on November 6, 2012. He advanced from the primary election on August 7th, 2012 winning 39.62% of the vote. Salamey defeated Richard Wygonik in the general election on November 6, 2012 winning 56.41% of the vote.[2][3][4]
Bar association ratings
The Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association rated candidates running for judicial office in 2012. Candidates were given one of five ratings: Outstanding, Well Qualified, Qualified, Not Qualified or No Rating.
Salamey was rated as Qualified.[5]

Judges of the Michigan District Courts are each elected to six-year terms.[6] The elections for this court are nonpartisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a qualified elector of the district, licensed to practice law in the state, under the age of 70, and have five years of experience practicing law.
