|I have since built a successful law firm, advocated for the rights of workers, tenants, and refugees, advised startups and small businesses, served on the LA City Civil Service Commission and on the board of the Westwood Library, helped build affordable housing for special needs adults in the 5th District with special needs provider ETTA, fought bigotry on the board of the Anti-Defamation League, advocated for low-income Angelenos on the boards of Bet Tzedek Legal Services and Bend the Arc, and engaged thousands of immigrants and first-generation Americans in civic life by co-founding the non-profit civic organization 30 Years After.
As my wife Leah and I raise our four children a few blocks from where I was raised, we continue to believe in the promise of LA. This is why I am running for the privilege of serving as Councilmember.
- I am a community & non-profit leader, small business owner, father of 4 young children, & nearly lifelong resident of the 5th District. I have the proven coalition-building leadership & common sense plans needed to bring our community together & get things done.
- We are suffering from a lack of leadership. I’m running for Council because the dream that LA once offered is slipping away. Exploding homelessness & a rising lack of affordable housing have become dire crises, our neighborhoods grow less & less safe each day, our streets & sidewalks are crumbling, city services are being cut, small businesses are shuttering, & economic & racial inequality worsen.
- Throughout this campaign, we have broken fundraising records without accepting a single dime from real estate developers, PACs, corporations or corporate entities, fossil fuel, big pharma, or special interests of any kind.
