Expand all | Collapse all

Samantha Severson was born and raised in Tucson, Arizona, earned their BA in Psychology from Southern New Hampshire University and currently works in higher education. They are vitally interested in the issues that are key to Arizona and the United States.
  • Samantha believes a fully-funded public education system is essential to maintaining our democratic republic. They support student debt relief, and working toward publicly funded higher education.
  • Severson will fight to enforce fair housing laws and will work to pass legislation that will prevent property owners from using services that coordinate rents, thereby increasing housing costs beyond the average American threshold. She supports Senate bill S.2224 - Stop Predatory Investing Act, which proposes to remove tax benefits for Wall Street firms that buy up large numbers of single-family homes
  • As a born and raised Arizonan, Severson advocates for immigration reform that will result in strong border security coupled with an earned pathway to citizenship. Severson was a vocal supporter of the bipartisan bill H.R.2 - Secure the Border Act, which would have funded additional border agents and closed the border if too crowded. The immigration system is broken and needs to be fixed, and Severson will take up the mantle to fight for the rights of all people, regardless of their immigration status, and will ensure laws about asylum seekers are enforced.
Samantha believes in public education reform to improve accessibility for all. Additionally, their platform centers on affordable healthcare and housing, removing private wealth from politics, and establishing term limits for Congress and the Supreme Court. They believe in a person's right to bodily autonomy, and denounce all attacks on the transgender community.

Living in a desert environment has informed Samantha’s advocacy to invest in renewable energy wherever and whenever possible. The continued reliance on finite resources is unsustainable.
The core responsibility of any elected official is to serve their office and constituents with integrity, honesty and fidelity. No one is perfect, but elected officials should always strive to to right by the people.
When I consider my legacy I am always reminded of the quote, “You have no idea what your legacy will be because your legacy is every life you touch.”
― Maya Angelou
Every elected or appointed office should have term limits.
