Samantha Vines Kelly is the Republican justice of the peace for the Winn Parish Justice of the Peace Court in Louisiana. She was elected automatically in 2017, when no other candidates filed to run against her.[1]

2017
Louisiana had partisan elections for local judicial offices in 2017. A primary election was held on October 14, 2017, and a general election was held on November 18, 2017. Primary and general elections were also held on March 25, 2017, and April 29, 2017, respectively.
The candidate filing deadline for the spring elections was January 13, 2017, and the deadline for the fall elections was July 14, 2017. In Louisiana, judicial candidates who are unopposed as of the end of the candidate filing period are automatically declared elected, and their names do not appear on the ballot.[1][2] Samantha Vines Kelly (R) ran unopposed in the primary election for Ward 6 justice of the peace on the Winn Parish Justice of the Peace Court.[3]

Judges of the Louisiana Justice of the Peace Courts are each elected to six-year terms. The elections for this court are partisan contested elections. To serve on this court, a judge must be a local resident for two years, younger than 70 years old, and have a law degree.[4]
