I am Sam Nashagh: a father, husband, and a Decorated Marine Corps Combat Veteran seeking a seat in Congress to restore fundamental American values and dignity to politics. I come from humble beginnings, including a period of homelessness as child. My father immigrated from the Middle East to flee tyranny and communism, and my mother is from a struggling working-class family. I have lived the American dream and rose to the middle-class through service.

I believe that America is the greatest nation in history and we, as citizens, must work keep it that way.

I have called Tampa home since 1982. I graduated from Hillsborough High School, and before that attended Egypt Lake Elementary and Bryan/Oak Grove/ and Middleton Middle Schools earning my Eagle Scout along the way.

I enlisted in the Marine Corps while attending Florida State University and was commissioned upon graduation. The 9/11 attacks happened while I was in flight school and routine training became an immediate preparation for war. I deployed multiple times to Iraq and Afghanistan in aviation and ground combat roles.

I ran a small business for a few years and am now a Senior Project Manager for an international Engineering and technology firm.
  • Real - The candidtae you meet will be the same person representing you in Washington.
  • Rational - I will pursue rational solution; not over-reactions like closing down the outdoors in the name of pseudo-science for political gain.
  • Results- Whether supervising construction of a multi-family building, implanting cloud technologies, or managing international crisis-response operations, I get things done. I will apply my detail-oriented methods to my role as a legislator and ensure bills that help my constituents and the nation gain the support they need to move through congress
Economy- I understand that fiscal solutions need a holistic approach: reduced spending, proper monetary policy, and balanced foreign trade. Each of these is a pillar in a stable economy. We need to protect Americans from massive inflation rates and cyclical recessions. I will vote to only support bills that bring us closer to responsible budgets

Security – This includes all aspects of security Border, Military and Cyber. We must protect America from all threats be it Fentanyl at our southern border; China’s aggressive actions; or Russian attacks on our digital infrastructure.

Veterans – We can’t just speak platitudes of how we thank our veterans for service but not provide the real tools they need.

I look up to Abraham Lincoln. He started out from the bottom and (indirectly) gave his life to keep America United.
Although not an exact listing of my philosophy, I recommend reading the Federalist Papers (or at least portions of them). It is a great example of how intent and cooperation can be shared without anger and violence. For something a little more fun, just watch Top Gun a few times.
Integrity - Be who they say they are and remain faithful to our Constitution.
Being unapologetically American.
None, legacies are for our Nation, not a politician
I distinctly remember the first Space Shuttle landing in April 1981. We watched it in my elementary school. I don’t recall the launch though. I was about to turn 7 years old
Other than mowing lawns at 10 years old, my first "real" job was working at a bulk mail sorting facility, It started in the summer of 9th grade and I returned for 2 more years
It's hard to pin down but " When Character was King" is among the top. It's a great story of Ronald Reagan told by a his friend and speechwriter Peggy Noonan. Her writing presents the full Reagan man and leader.
Luke Skywalker..but the version from the Mandalorian not a New hope
"Wheels on the Bus" because my 18 month old son keeps playing it.
But the last songs I played that lingered ares "Home" by Dierks Bentley and "0 to 100; the catch up" by Drake
It's more accessible to the common citizen than many other positions.
Although an understanding of the processes and rules will go far, I don't believe that government experience makes one inherently more qualified.
Remaining Unified! We must stay together internally and all other challenges will be overcome.
No. I think ideally there would be 3 or 4 and staggered like the Senate. I think that the short term causes a frequent return to fundraising and campaigning and less attention to legislating
As much as I would love to be able to enforce them, the pure constitutionalist in me agrees with the Supreme Court that we can't impose them on the state level. That said. I will commit to not spending more than 8 years in Congress if the People so decide to keep me.
I don't want to emulate anyone; that is part of the reason I am running.
It changes daily but today I'll go with my favorite political dad joke.

Q: What do you call a Vice President playing the Drums?

A: Algorithm
Necessary, yes although not always desirable. We will get more done as a nation and improve the lives of all Americans if we can compromise politically, much like we did in the early to mid 90s.
I will only support legislation that moves us towards smaller budgets. We cannot sustain this radical spending spree.
