Campaign themes

2016

The following issues were listed on Anders' campaign website. For a full list of campaign themes, click here.

  • Economy: Free enterprise is what fuels our economy. The best way for the federal government to support the economy is by balancing the budget, slashing the $18 trillion dollars we own in debts, and eliminating burdensome regulations.
  • Military: As a veteran and a member of the Air Force Reserve, the military and their families are a top priority to Sam. Having served overseas Sam knows what it is like to serve his country in a foreign land; to kiss his wife and children good bye and not look back as he boards a plane. His family, and many more like his, know the sacrifices that need to be made—to give him the peace of mind that everything will be ok on the home front so that his mind can stay in the game in the hopes that he will make it home once again. He knows what it is like to transition back into civilian life, leaving ground hog day behind him and returning to the life that most call normal. Washington is not doing enough for our military and in some areas they have failed completely.
  • Foreign Policy: We go where we are needed, when we are needed and we act swiftly, strategically and successfully. We do not pick fights, but we will defend allies if they are attacked. If we send troops then they need to be able to complete their mission and win the battle. As one of the most powerful nations in the world we have a duty and responsibility, if reconstruction is deemed necessary, to not pull out until we know the area is safe and able to sustain a functioning government.
  • Immigration: The United States was founded by immigrants; individuals who left the land of their birth in search of freedom and a better life. The Statue of Liberty, a symbol of America, is inscribed with the words “Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” Americans are not hostile to immigrants, but there are issues within our immigration system that need addressing and many Americans are frustrated with the lack of response from Washington.
  • 2nd Amendment: Protect your Constitutional right. Sam is a true believer in our "Right to Bear Arms.” The original intent of the Second Amendment was to allow citizens the ability to arm themselves against a tyrannical government. Now more than ever, with an out of control Federal Government and issues surrounding National Security we need the ability to protect ourselves and our families.
