Samuel Ings was born in Orlando, Florida. After graduating from Boone High School, he earned an associate degree from Valencia Community College, a bachelor's and two master's degrees from Rollins College, and a master's degree from Orlando College.[1]

The city of Orlando, Florida, held elections for mayor and city council on November 3, 2015. The filing deadline for candidates who wished to run in this election was September 4, 2015. Three of the six city council seats were up for election.[2]

In District 6, incumbent Samuel B. Ings defeated Nathan Chambers, Lawanna Gelzer, Marcus Robinson and Ka'Juel Washington in the general election.[3]
