A San Carlos School District parcel tax, Measure S ballot question was on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the San Carlos School District in San Mateo County, California, where it was defeated.
If Measure S had been approved, it would have increased the parcel tax rate in the district by $75 for a total of $185 per parcel per year beginning July 1, 2009, with a potential cost-of-living adjustment of not more than 3% annually.
A two-thirds (66.67%) vote was required for approval.

Measure S: "To maintain early reading programs, small class sizes, and school libraries; support science, writing, mathematics, arts, and technology; retain and attract quality teachers and staff; and maintain safe schools, shall the San Carlos School District replace its existing special tax, increasing the rate by $75 for a total of $185 per parcel per year beginning July 1, 2009, with cost-of-living adjustments not more than 3% annually, an Independent Oversight Committee and offering a senior exemption?"[1] |
