Ballot title

The ballot title for Proposition U was as follows:

Shall it be City policy that its elected representatives in the United States Senate and House of Representatives vote against any further funding for the deployment of United States Armed Forces in Iraq, except for funds to withdraw troops?


Path to the ballot

On June 17, 2008, the San Francisco Department of Elections received a proposed ordinance signed by Supervisors Ammiano, Daly, McGoldrick and Mirkarimi. On June 23, 2008, Supervisor Peskin signed as a co-sponsor of the ordinance.
