Campaign themes

2016

Blankenship's campaign website highlighted the following issues:

Problems:

  • 20% uninsured rate
  • Tax breaks for oil and gas that pollute our air and contaminate our water. Tax breaks for out of state corporations.
  • Underfunded schools and teachers teaching the "test" while test makers rake in huge profits.
  • Infrastructure
  • Highly funded lobbyists with dark money sources

Solutions:

  • Expand Medicaid
  • End tax breaks and subsidies for mega corporations and invest in renewable resources
  • Fund public schools and end excessive testing
  • Fix roads and bridges with a jobs plan which will create well paying jobs
  • Amend the Texas constitution to state that Corporations are not People and Money is not free speech.[1]
