Sandi Martinez was unopposed in the Republican primary. Barrett defeated Martinez in the general election.[1]

Martinez ran in the 2012 election for Massachusetts State Senate Third Middlesex District. Martinez defeated Greg Howes in the September 6 Republican primary and was defeated by Mike Barrett (D) in the general election, which took place on November 6, 2012.[2]
