Campaign themes
2014
Snyder's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]
Education
- Excerpt: "Education is important not just to our children, but to our entire Commonwealth. Strong public education means workforce development. A strong, educated workforce is fundamental to building a strong economy now and for generations."
Economy
- Excerpt: "A strong economy means greater opportunities for Pennsylvania families, a lower burden on taxpayers and a brighter future for everyone. Under the current leadership, Pennsylvania has fallen to 47th in the nation for job creation. This is unacceptable. I will fix that by working to make sure that we make smart investments in Pennsylvania families that will grow our economy and create jobs."
Environment
- Excerpt: "Our children and grandchildren deserve to grow up with water that is safe to drink, air that is safe to breathe and they deserve to enjoy the green, open spaces that mean so much to our community. I will fight to protect our environment and preserve open space. I will stand up to the gas industry to stop the environmental destruction that has been going on for too long."
Equality
- Excerpt: "As a professional woman, community leader and mother to three daughters, it is important to me that equality become a priority in Pennsylvania. From economic opportunities to access to affordable healthcare, I will fight for equality for all Pennsylvanians, and end the discrimination that has become rampant in Harrisburg."
