I’m Sandy Kaiser, a proud daughter of four generations of Washington farmers and loggers.

I’m new to politics but not to public service. I served our nation overseas for 25 years as a Foreign Service Officer, promoting American business, security and human rights around the world. I left that job with the equivalent rank of a vice-admiral. I also served as communications director at the Washington State Department of Natural Resources and as vice president at The Evergreen State College. I am vice president of the board of the Capitol Land Trust, because I am fiercely focused on conservation issues.

I’m a common-sense Democrat, focused on local issues and needs. And after a diplomatic career I know how to work with everyone to get things done. America is always at its best when neighbors work together for the common good.
  • I believe in hard work, love of family, community and country and making sure that everyone in our rural district has the same opportunities for success as in other parts of western Washington.
  • We need to create better conditions for local business to thrive and grow, create more family-wage jobs, improve our schools and expand rural broadband.
  • It’s critically important that we fund our local sheriffs and first-responders, so they can be there in an hour of need.
Washington's tax code puts unfair burdens on working families and wage-earners. The way we fund our public schools puts rural school districts and taxpayers at a disadvantage.

I am very focused on sustainable forestry and maintaining the health and cleanliness of Puget Sound. Our forest-products and shellfish industries depend on our stewardship of these resources.
