Sandy Praeger
Sandy Praeger is the former Republican Kansas Commissioner of Insurance. Praeger was first elected to this position in 2002 and assumed office in January 2003.[1] She won re-election in 2006 and 2010, and declined to run for re-election in 2014.[2][3] She was succeeded in office by Ken Selzer in January 2015.
Biography
Prior to her election as Kansas Commissioner of Insurance, Praeger served in the Kansas State Senate from 1992-2002. She was Mayor of Lawrence from 1986-1987, and a member of the Lawrence City Commission from 1985-1989.[1]
Praeger has served as Secretary-Treasurer of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), and has received awards as "legislator of the year" from AARP and the Kansas Wildlife Federation. In 1999, she was awarded the Dr. Nathan B. Davis award by the American Medical Association.[4]

Praeger was first elected Kansas Commissioner of Insurance in 2002. She was subsequently re-elected two times - in 2006 and 2010.[1] Praeger declined to seek re-election in 2014, and was succeeded by Ken Selzer (R) in January 2015.
