Sanford Steelman
Sanford L. Steelman, Jr. was a judge for the North Carolina Court of Appeals. He served in this position from 2003 until his retirement in 2015.[1] [2][3]
Education
Steelman received his A.B. in political science from Davidson College in 1973 and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina School of Law at Chapel Hill in 1976.[2]
Career
Steelman began his legal career in 1976 as an associate attorney with the law firm Griffin, Caldwell & Helder, P.A. In 1980, he became a partner in this firm and his name was added to the title. From 1988 to 1992, he ran his own private practice. He then worked as a partner in the firm Steelman & Long until 1994, when he became a resident superior court judge in Judicial District 20B (Stanly and Union Counties). In 2001, he became the senior resident superior court judge. He held this position until he became an appellate judge in 2003.[2]

Steelman was re-elected to the North Carolina Court of Appeals after running unopposed.[4]
