Impartial analysis
The following impartial analysis of the measure was prepared by the office of the Santa Fe Springs City Attorney:
“ |
If approved by a majority of voters, this initiative would allow a one cent local sales tax within the City of Santa Fe Springs. The sales tax is also referred to as a transactions and use tax. The revenue would be placed in the City’s general fund for general city operations including but not limited to police and fire protection, street repairs and improvements, and recreational and community programs. The measure requires an independent annual financial audit of the revenue generated by this measure and how the revenue is used. The proposed tax would be administered by the California Department of Tax and Fee Administration in the same manner that transaction and use tax are currently administered. A “yes” vote is a vote in favor of authorizing the transactions and use tax. A “no” vote is a vote against authorizing the transactions and use tax.[2] |
