Jobs and Economic Development

  • Raise the minimum wage to $15 dollars an hour, and raise the wage for those in the foodservice industry. We need to give ALL workers a living wage.
  • Center our economy on innovation so we can make today’s ideas tomorrow’s reality. We should establish business incubators in our towns, in partnership with the University and area colleges to attract start-ups and retain the best minds.
  • Getting everyone to work by creating new jobs and providing appropriate training for the jobs that are currently out there.
  • Tackle income inequality. The ratio of the top 1% to the bottom 99% is more than 30:1 in Massachusetts. We should raise taxes on millionaires so that working families have a fighting chance.

Education

  • A Responsive and Vibrant Pre-K through Higher Ed Public School System. It’s up to us to continue to have high-quality education for all of our children.
  • Address affordable Pre-K so that all families have equitable access to early childhood educational opportunities.
  • Teach diversity and understanding to our children.
  • Expand vocational and technical opportunities so we can train young people interested in the trades for the economy of tomorrow right here.
  • Place a cap on charter schools until there can be an equitable and accountable funding mechanism.

The Environment

  • Protecting our Environment for Our Children. Our climate is changing rapidly, and now is the time to act in preserving our critical natural resources for the next generation.
  • Protect our water resources. Natural hydrological systems conserve our water resources and maintain clean water for our future. We need to maintain programs and initiatives that promote protection and mitigate storm water pollution.
  • Accelerate the transition to a clean and green energy future. No -or- low - carbon energy resources like wind and solar help combat climate change. We need to support the development of these resources with reasonable policies that help protect our environment and create Jobs.
  • Preserve our forests and farmland. Forests and farmland provide economic benefit as well as wildlife habitat and natural processes such as carbon sequestration.

Health and Human Services

  • Gender equality regardless of gender identity. We need to continue working to ensure that everyone, regardless of how they express their gender identity, can do their job without fear of discrimination.
  • Support local healthcare facilities. Through education programs such as MotherWoman, we need to continue to offer pregnant women and new mothers the resources they need to lead healthy lives, regardless of their economic status. [1]
