Crawford's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[6]
Jobs and the Economy
- Excerpt: "In order to support small business and the economy of North Carolina, we must work across the aisle to come up with a long term solution that balances the budget, makes the tax code fair to all North Carolina families, and provides small business owners the support they need to continue growing our economy and creating jobs here in North Carolina."
Education
- Excerpt: "We must continue to support public education by recruiting and retaining the best teachers, and support them by increasing teachers’ wages to the national average and providing resources for every student in every classroom – without compromising North Carolina’s world class public university system. We must invest in every child to succeed, and the current General Assembly has proven that they are not willing to put teachers and students first. This must change, and we must ensure that North Carolina continues to value and invest in our public education system."
Healthcare
- Excerpt: "Denying fully funded Medicaid expansion leaves nearly 500,000 individuals and working families in North Carolina uninsured. In addition to leaving low-income individuals uninsured, denying Medicaid expansion will send our hard-earned tax dollars to other states and place additional burdens on hospitals and employers."

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
