I think of politics like a bell curve. On the far left and the far right are the extremes, but most people live somewhere in between. Unfortunately, the media and too many politicians spend their time pandering to those outliers, leaving a lot of us feeling politically homeless, even though we’re actually the majority.

That’s why I was an unaffiliated voter until December 2025. I didn’t feel like anyone was listening. I didn’t feel represented. I was tired of the constant bickering and disrespectful discourse, and it felt like too many elected leaders had forgotten who they were supposed to be working for. For a while, that left me feeling hopeless. But that’s not who I am.

When I see a problem, I don’t stand by and complain. I try to fix it. And I realized that if I wasn’t willing to step up and take action myself, I couldn’t expect anyone else to do it for me. So I found like-minded people who felt the same way—people willing to listen to one another, and get to work.

I’m not about left or right. I'm about neighbors and community. When we slow down and really listen to each other, it’s amazing how much common ground we can find. Most people want the same basic things: a fair shot, a safe place to live, and a better future for their kids. And the best solutions don’t come from division or extremes, they come from everyday people working together.

  • The rising cost of living is putting a real strain on families across Colorado Springs. Housing, insurance, groceries, and everyday expenses are stretching household budgets, and government has a responsibility to help ease that pressure with practical action that delivers real results.
  • Investing in public education is not about politics. As Colorado faces the possibility of an economic slowdown in 2026, it is more important than ever that we remain committed to funding our public schools. Though the budget stabilization factor was repealed, it still shorted Academy School District 20 $271.4 million in funding over 15 years. Our schools had to choose between repairing the roof and funding classroom resources for the students. We cannot repeat that mistake. Our schools should not be treated as a balancing tool when times get tough.
