I am a non-profit leader and began my work in advocacy at a young age. I was an abortion clinic escort in high school and helped protect the privacy of women seeking necessary healthcare. I served as the president of the Young Seminole County Democrats before running for the Florida State House. Outside of advocacy, I enjoy running, a habit that began in elementary school. I have completed multiple multi-day running challenges, and now enjoy supporting my husband, Nicolas, an avid ultra-runner and manager of a local run specialty store.
  • I am firmly opposed to the current 6-week abortion ban and to any further restrictions on comprehensive reproductive healthcare. A choice this personal must be between a woman, her doctor, and anyone else she chooses - not dictated by politicians in Tallahassee.
  • While Seminole County is home to a wonderful public school system, we face the same staffing shortage crisis plaguing the rest of the state. I support legislative efforts to mitigate the effects of salary compression and ensure fair compensation for our classroom veterans. When experienced teachers leave our schools, the lack of mentorship for new teachers creates further retention concerns.
  • The housing crisis is one of the biggest hurdles Floridians face today. Since 2020, the prices of both housing and insurance have risen so dramatically that many working families are being forced to leave the state. The state should fully restore the funding robbed from the Sadowski Act Housing Trust Funds. I will also work to address the insurance crisis, another major factor of our housing crisis, by bringing increased transparency and accountability to how public support funds are spent by insurance companies.
Florida is a state with a significant aging population and as a result the need for appropriate healthcare policy is evident. After serving as a caretaker for my grandmother during the COVID-19 pandemic, I’m especially motivated to identify and implement policy solutions that support our aging population. This includes embracing Medicaid expansion and expanding access to quality healthcare to more than 800,000 Floridians.
I care incredibly deeply about the success of the people around me. I believe that democracy can and should be rooted in compassion and in advocating for our neighbors, and I drive myself to embody that compassion personally and professionally.
My first job was as a Little League umpire, and I worked there for two summers! It was incredible to work in the same community where I grew up playing softball and I have nothing but great memories of days spent at the ballpark.
The Book Thief, by Markus Zusak, is one of my favorite books. In addition to being exceptionally well-written with a unique narrator, the story speaks to so many things that I hold dear. The power of storytelling and of the written word, the horrors of war, and the need to care for each other and protect one another in the face of hate are messages that I took with me and have continued to carry.
Who's Afraid of Little Old Me - Taylor Swift
It’s not just beneficial but absolutely necessary to build relationships with other legislators. No policy is passed alone and in Florida, bipartisanship is critical for any legislative success! I believe that debate, compromise, and balance are foundational to our democracy and are the appropriate paths towards answers that work for each Floridian. I would embrace this spirit to build coalitions around the positions I share with other legislators in order to get good bills passed.
My first bill will be focused on workforce development. I want to provide an expansion of dual enrollment to include apprenticeship opportunities and trade schools. I believe in the importance of trade jobs especially in rebuilding a thriving middle class. This would be a direct investment into our students and allow them to enter the workforce with real world experience in these industries and without the burden of student loan debt.

Transparency and accountability are the foundations for trust in our government, and I view it as a vital part of democratic processes. Keeping the finances of candidates and elected officials transparent is necessary to ensure our citizens are able to hold their leaders accountable. When it comes to government spending, I believe it is important as a State Representative to keep open communications about financial decisions with the residents of my district, including how budget cuts or state-funded investments will directly impact the community.

I’m Sarah Henry, and I’m running to represent House District 38. I’m a nonprofit professional with a background in reproductive rights and protecting clean water. I’m running to stand up to special interests to combat the housing crisis and our skyrocketing property insurance rates. I’ll fight to protect reproductive rights and women’s healthcare from overreach by the State Legislature. Seminole County is ready for a public servant that serves them.
  • Seminole County is in the middle of an affordable housing crisis. I am dedicated to making sure that our residents can afford to stay in their homes, and that young families and recent graduates are able to put down roots in this beautiful district. We know that the impacts of Hurricane Ian will only make the already dire housing situation worse. I am focused on bringing down costs for Florida’s families by targeting property insurance rates and addressing the affordable housing shortage. We need to restore the Sudowski Housing Trust Fund and ensure that it is not raided for unrelated uses.
  • A woman’s healthcare decisions should remain between her, her doctor, and those she chooses to consult. Lawmakers in Tallahassee cannot possibly understand the full medical and personal circumstances of each unique pregnancy, and need to trust women and their doctors to make these deeply personal decisions.
  • Seminole County is a sought-after place to live thanks to its natural resources and green spaces. We need to ensure that necessary development is done in a way that ensures our environment is protected for this and future generations.
I am passionate about addressing the issues that affect the residents of District 38 every day. The legislature has spent too much time and money inventing problems that don’t exist and attacking marginalized communities, instead of focusing on rising costs and the housing crisis. I am passionate about policy that addresses skyrocketing housing and property insurance costs. I also want to ensure that Floridians enjoy the basic rights and freedoms that have been available for decades and are enshrined in our Constitution. The abortion ban that the legislature passed last session, with no exceptions for rape, incest, or human trafficking, is an example of extreme legislation that has no place in Florida.
